Sharmin  is originally from Zaxo, Kurdistand (Northern Iraq). In 1996, she and her family migrated to Guam, Kanas, and lastly settled in California due to the genocide of the Kurds. Her grandma was known as the best wool and cotton spinner in their village. That textile passion ran down to her mother which then she shared with Sharmin. She feels blessed to have landed here in the land of the free and endless opportunity. One can recognize, many of the textiles and repeats were inspired by her culture, heritage and religion. Some of the various creations were also inspired by her emotional state and gratefulness in her life's journey. Throughout her work it is obvious Sharm is inspired by many fun, colorful and unique things. She has a charming chic and quirky sense of style and grasps inspiration in a 360 degree viewpoint. She believed we are surrounded by so much beauty, however it takes the right set of eyes to find it. Her culture and mother nature have been a large component when it comes to being inspired. All the hues and textures that the eARTh shares with us are so remarkable. Each piece that is created, whether it be hand dyed scarves, garments or cards, is sure to make a powerful statement. Growing up as a tinker she used all sorts of materials. Fabric happens to be her favorite. She enjoys dyeing fabrics and playing with surface design techniques. Sometimes when an idea hatches in her mind she will not sleep unit it has been developed. 

Fun fact: Sharmin is pronounced Shar-meen, during the migration the immigration officer made a typo on both Sharmin and her sister's name, the taunting sound of "Cha Cha Charmin" still continues.
